Falling
In anticipation for the fall season, here are a few things I’m looking forward to:
Bath and Body Works has candles that are released by the season. The fall season has a few scents that are really good. My favorite is Leaves. Go check it out. You can thank me later.
Until I met my husband, who grew up in Black Mountain, NC, I never visited the mountains of North Carolina during leaf changing season. If you EVER have the chance to go to the mountains during the time of the year when the leaves change colors, please, do yourself a favor, and go!
I took this picture the first time I went. Here are a few more pictures.
Cool weather makes me want to drink hot chocolate.
I love hot chocolate.
The new season of Grey’s Anatomy! The season finale was great. I’m so glad that they are getting back to the old Grey’s. They were all out in left field, for a minute there. I’ve been a fan since season 1, so I’m hoping they stay on the right track.
Speaking of TV, I can’t wait until the new season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta. (Don’t judge me!) I look forward to seeing what these ladies are up to.

R.I.P. Lena Horne
Lena Horne died last night at age 92, at New York-Presbyterian Hospital.
Lena Horne was the first African-American to be signed to a major Hollywood studio MGM, in 1942.
In addition to being a performer, she was also active in the civil rights movement.
She will be missed.
"I don't have to be an imitation of a white woman that Hollywood sort of hoped I'd become. I'm me, and I'm like nobody else." - Lena Horne
“You have to be taught to be second class; you're not born that way." -Lena Horne

Book Review
Note: I'm going to give a brief synopsis of the book. I don't want to get into too many details.
Wench is about the relationships between 4 slave women, and their masters. It takes place at Tawawa House, near Xenia Ohio. Tawawa House was a resort where slave owners brought their wenches, and were able to openly display their relationships. Wench centers around one particular couple Lizzie, and her master Nathan Drayle. It follows the women over several summers.
I recommend this book.
A little history of Tawawa House:
Tawawa House started as a resort where Southern slave owners brought their slave concubines in the summer. Tawawa House was opened between 1852- 1855. It closed because of the openness of the slave owners. After closing, Tawawa House became Ohio African University, which was later named Wilberforce University. Wilberforce University is the oldest, private, predominantly African American University in the nation. It is believed that the children of the slaves, and the slave owners were some of the early students at the university.
